For once, some politicians are not PIG-headed enough!

In case you haven't been following this heart-rending saga, and it is inconceivable to me that you haven't, and trust me my heart is rarely rent by anything hitting a newspaper, magazine or the Net, especially but not limited to third-world celebrity adoptions, record-breaking box office proceeds enriching new Scientology starlings, the latest outrageous outfit served up by Lady Gag-me, sports figures actually profiting from advances in twentieth century chemical science, and so forth, this week the one meaningful event in my book has been the refusal to reconsider a cruel separation of an autistic boy and his pot-bellied pig pet Loopey by a feckless Fayetteville, North Carolina, City Council.

I expressed my dismay to the Fayetteville City Council and you too can post a comment to them here. There is also a petition page here although it is not clear to whom exactly the petition is addressed.

On its website, Fayetteville touts itself as The All-America (sic) City. Sad.

They paved paradise...

In a letter submitted earlier this year to The Desert Sun, San Lorenzo Road in Palm Springs Will Lose its Charm When Widened, I learned that the street I was pretty much raised on by my grandparents is destined to become a superhighway.

You can read the City Council Report here

The memory of the way gravel felt underneath my little feet will soon give way to a street built for the 20th century when the automobile was king. And this in the name of a Federal "Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality" grant. Someone has discerned tremendous congestion on the road as depicted in the recent photo above. Can you? Sad.
